How many species on this planet are in a position to collectively choose which others to make extinct, and on the other side, willfully prevent the extinction of others? How many have the capacity to both destroy and create environments? If you define importance as being overall impact on the earth, I would say it is humans who hold that mantle, especially if you consider the potential for the future. |
