But we are not talking about people who are here illegally. The workers that Labour now realises are undercutting local wages are perfectly entitled to be here. So, if anything was a “cheap and nasty gimmick” it was this speech. Not only was it a breathtaking exercise in hypocrisy; most unconscionable was Mr Bryant’s pretence that this debate is really about blood-sucking corporations like Tesco exploiting foreign nationals while being unfair to British workers. |
